I love the 8SE. It's reasonably lightweight, Great, in my garden which isn't that dark. I can actually see many more Messier objects now, usually I photograph them. The goto & tracking are pretty good, for visual obviously. I was pleased to be able to get a few half decent images of Jupiter and Mars (not so pleased with my Saturn). I've never attempted planetary photography before; I hope to improve a lot using this scope next year. Downsides: There's always something, . The RDF: dismal in my view. It's not an expensive item and the scope would be MUCH better with an RDF that adjusts correctly, I'm not against plastic per se but this one is poor. A separate handle on the scope would be good. A handle on the lens cap would be very useful.

When I was a kid I had purchased a Tasco telescope and had enjoyed it for years never really delved into getting a new one until I had seen some reviews about this particular telescope. Since I have purchased all of my camera equipment from B and H photo over the years I sourced out this model through their sales department and ordered it. All I can say is this is probably the best telescope I have ever owned from the season use of the self positioning and finding computer system to the tripod and various other accessories that I ended up getting for it. This telescope came in very handy during the Red moon eclipse that took place in January 2019 I am absolutely thrilled with this purchase the telescope and the pictures that I can take with it

This product came badly packed, it looked as if it had been opened. Some parts that the instruction say should be there are missing. The mirror tilt the rubber just turns round and round either way you try to look. no disc with the first one.Amazon have replaced it. it says in the documentation that it should have a 232 cable and 2 cd disks. we got one disk this time and no 232 cable as it says in the instruction manual. yes I know 232 is old hat an not used now, however the manual should be changed to say so.

This is my first scope and I bought it to take to the national parks out west. In retrospect, I think the 5 inch is probably abut as portable, but I'm happy with the 4 too. It is easy to set up and operate. The focus nob rubber isn't tight, and affects the focusing, but otherwise a great scope.
