Much faster than the older models. I have the Mini, and this GPS acquires position quickly. Needs a touch screen - this is 2022, not 2015. Works with my iPhone 11 for texts, like the Mini and previous units. Others have commented about not being able to change batteries. Do they want to carry more batteries or just 1 power pack for recharging all their devices? Same weight....

I purchased this Garmin 66i about a month ago. I have been using it quite often and learning all it can do. I take it out when I'm on ther horses bear hunting. So far it has done everything I expect and so much more. It's also a great piece of mind as far as my wife is concerned.

I bought this a couple of months back and was a little scared by the negative reviews but have been nothing but satisfied with it so far. It's simple to use (it's my third Garmin though), and very reliable. I haven't had any of the issues that other people have warned of. Maybe I'm just lucky... The only real concern that is accurate is not being able to exchange batteries. I'm going to plug it into my solar charger and see how that goes than try an external power bank.

Works good. Always lets me know where I am at. Not very intuitive though. Takes time to learn.

Do not buy GPSMAP 66i, if you plan to go on a long trip into the remote area, the purpose of this device is to be able to send SOS signals and text messages where there is no cell service and in case of emergency or keep the love one informed.. Also use it to navigate in back country. This piece of junk has a very short-lived battery life, only 35 hours on the normal condition, you cannot and I repeat you cannot replace the battery or put AA batteries so you’re in the dead water unless you take a power generator with you. Per my conversation with GARMIN tech-support if the battery goes bad you need to send a device to get it replaced, Also does not work when connected to car USB port, on power is disabled, I guess GARMIN did this, so u buy their car GPS. Bottom line this product is way overpriced with it’s poor power capability and lack of providing option to put fresh battery in it. Chargeable or non chargeable. Great device if you plan to go to Central Park, in NY
