I bought this in Feb. and did not take it out of the case until yesterday and it will not work. Is there anything I can do to get it replaced?

Purchased this as replacement for one I had for over 10 years. Cant find these at Lowes or Home Depot anymore. Replaced due to chuck being worn out, but that happens. I don't like keyless chuck drills since the bits slip too easy when working with steel and hard metals.

Powerful. Sturdy. But the damn trigger lock button is horribly positioned. It get locked unintentionally and causes major issues.

Had it for a few years, but it has always seemed a little underpowered. Anyway, today it burnt out drilling a 36mm hole (spade bit) in a 4x4 post. Very disappointing for a Hitachi - even if non trade grade.

I have had this drill for several years but it has had very little use as I usually end up using one of my cordless drills for convenience. Today I needed to drill a 4 1/4" hole in some siding for a dryer vent so grabbed this as I knew it would require some extra torque. Almost immediately the hole saw stopped turning but the motor continued to run. I ended up using my 10 year old 18V Dewalt cordless to finish the job as that is all I had to hand, it did just fine. I tore into the drill when I got home and found that the main drive gear now spins freely on the spindle, I am guessing the splines connecting them have sheared. The parts to fix it are available but together will cost around $40 which is not economically viable considering the cost of a new drill. Very poor considering the amount of use this drill has had over the years.
