It's got one job and it does it well! Very happy with it.

If you are thinking about a capture card, just go with a brand name. I went through the cheap $15 ones and they were a mess. Poorly made and unpredictable. The camlink is a solid piece of equipment. It comes with a USB extension cord, has a light to indicate its working or "on" plus it is recognised as its own device. The cheap ones don't have any of this and found out the long way that its worth going in on a decent one rather than skimp.

I have two of these that I use with my Sony a6400 and ATEM mini pro iso. They give great picture quality for local recording and streaming. However frequently I have to disconnect and reconnect the units before my laptop will “see” them. This occurs with Zoom, Riverside.fm and Camtasia. It only happens when I start using them- never interrupts streaming or recording. But it’s a pain to have to unplug and reconnect the unit 60% of the time when starting a video meeting. Hence only 3 stars.

Is your work PC locked down to the point of uselessness? Do you need to share a screen from an unencumbered computer? If your work PC accepts a driverless USB 'webcam' and the other computer has an HDMI out port, the Elgato Cam Link 4K is a godsend.

Unlike the previous version this one plugs and runs in a mac instantly. No drop of image. Very happy with it.
