Good Points: Straightforward and reliable to use. 10 pin connector easy to line up and assemble even with large fingers. Button lock is useful. Improvement Points: Expensive for such an item --- difficult to see how the price can be justified. BUT, relative to the cost of the camera, not worth risking the cheaper alternative and possible damage.

I own a number of shutter release remotes. This is by FAR the most impractical and expensive of all of them. It is a joke by Nikon. You cant even operate it comfortably with one hand!

It works better than hoped. I would recommend. I gave it 5 stars

I use this release continually in the field, especially for night photography. I leave the device connected when returning the camera to its holster. The attachment of the cord on the camera end gets frayed after only a few hundred bends or manipulations. When the wires become unprotected by the plastic covering, it takes only a few more bends to disconnect a wire or two, which renders the device useless. This is my third replacement of this rather expensive, but necessary, accessory.

I have had the older version, MC-30, for around ten years and still working well. I decided to buy this one, MC-30A, only because the lock ring is bigger. It takes only about 10 seconds to mount it into my camera while the MC-30 took me 30 seconds with the need of a small screw driver. May be the problem is my big fingers!
