Fantastic lens, only downside is the vignetting is very heavy (using it on a 5DM3), obviously this is an easy fix on Lightroom etc, but still, its annoying. Sharpness is great, but nothing mind blowing, distortion is minimal, bokeh is nice, but a little jittery, not quite the smoothness you get from the L version. HOWEVER I don't think the L version is worth $1700 so this is definitely the better buy!

The EF 35mm f/2 IS USM lens is perfect for lightweight travel and street photography as well as family pics. The Image Stabilization works amazingly well. And of course, B&H Photo is the best.

Ignore the bad reviews. They are rightfully minimal in number and for good reason. This lens is well built, well balanced on my full frame DSLR, and snaps to focus quickly. Anyone having an issue with focus or vignetting is either shooting under poor lighting conditions with unrealistic expectations, or needs a quick lesson in how to engage peripheral illumination correction. (The latter can be done in camera or in post.) Cheers to Canon for making great glass as always.

This glass has been my primal lease on a Canon 7D for about half a year. Its fast and takes great pics. Would buy again.

I really love this lens, I have not fully been able to utilize it in many various situations yet but so far I can tell its a great lens and I think its one of my new favorites.
