Canon RF 100mm f/2.8L Macro

I've wanted a macro lens for years, but always struggled to justify it, given it's quite niche usage. (Yes it does make a nice portrait lens, however it's at the longer end of the focal length for that, and again quite specific to shooting facial portraits) Anyway, I'm happy I made the investment, it's quick and sharp like nothing else. The AF coupled with an R6 MK2 is lightning fast, really impressed. Is it cheap, no... Is anything cheap nowadays, definitely no, should that be a justification for high pricing, also no... But, it's a really nice quality lens, wirh my only gripe being that canon needs to get their act together and supply a decent protective case with it. If you buy a Sigma lens, you get a protective soft case, if you buy a canon lens you get a drawstring bag... That's not on.

I am very amateur to photography. I bought this lens for my R8 to take pictures of my baby and for interesting pictures approached from a as close up angle. Still learning how to use the settings for macro but so far the results I am getting is amazing. Of close like every raw image it does need final touches on the computer. If you’re an advanced photographer and have the money this is definitely one of a must to have lens in your arsenal

Excellent lens for macro photography, as well as portraits. I find it easier to leave it in Manual Mode for Macro.

Inmiddels dit objectief een paar week in gebruik en onder de indruk van de prestaties. Het is ook weer een L-series lens dus met alle voordelen van de L-serie, dus kan wel tegen een druppel regen en stof en natuurlijk en stootje. Was de voorganger (EF 100mm F2.8L IS USM) al een erg fijne lens om te gebruiken deze gaat nog een stapje verder. Scherpstellen is een stuk sneller (in AF) en met scherpstelgeleiding op de camera ook in MF zeer goed mee scherp te stellen ook al is het een "focus by wire" systeem. Waar de EF-versie bij een vergroting van 1x stopt gaat de RF versie nog door tot 1,4x vergroting. In combinatie met een body met IBIS kan je zelfs behoorlijke lange sluitertijden gebruiken als je uit de hand moet schieten, natuurlijk is een statief handiger maar niet altijd mogelijk. De SA functie nog niet gebruikt en verwacht die ook niet echt vaak te gaan gebruiken.
