Canon RF 28-70 mm f/2.8 IS STM

I was really impressed with this lens. Lightweight and amazing image quality. Normally I keep the 24-240mm on my camera and it's a great lens that covers everything. The 28-70 has even better image quality so much so that you can crop right in and still get a great image, which compensates for the shorter reach. At the wide end there is little difference between 24 and 28mm for my needs. So the dilema is, do I still need the 24-240mm? I think I could get the images I want from the 28-70mm.

With its fast – and constant – f/2.8 maximum aperture, compact size and relatively light weight, coupled with weather-resistant sealing, the RF 28-70mm f/2.8 IS STM lens slot nicely between Canon’s entry-level and high-end offerings, giving potential buyers a wider choice of standard, short-zoom lenses.

I got this lens because I wanted a light carry around lens with my R5. I had watched plenty of YouTube videos who highly recommended it not only for it's f2.8 aperture and weather sealing but the sharpness and beautiful bokeh from the images. I have been taking a few photos around the garden to test it out before I go on holiday and I'm not disappointed at all. It's a great alternative to the more expensive 28-70 f2 L lens. If you are on a budget, get this f2.8 version, it's a no- brainer!

Als productfotograaf was ik erg nieuwsgierig naar deze Canon RF 28-70mm f/2.8. Ik ben al in het bezit van de 24-105mm f/4.0, maar deze is vrij zwaar om mee te nemen. De 28-70mm ligt lekker in de hand, wat fijn is als je een hele dag op pad bent en landschappen wil fotograferen, waar ik hem ook voor wilde gebruiken. Het diafragma van f/2.8 geeft een mooie onscherpe achtergrond, wat mijn productfoto’s ook ten goede komt. Een van de nadelen vind ik de prijs: hij zit dicht tegen de 24-105mm f/4.0 aan, maar heeft een kleiner zoombereik. Verder moet je het objectief eerst in de opname positie zetten, wat ik nog niet eerder bij andere lenzen heb gehad en wat voor mij overbodig lijkt. Toch is het een veelzijdige lens: eentje die je sneller in je tas stopt dan de andere zoomlenzen.

Erg mooie en compacte lens, erg lichtsterk, Voor video is de beeldstabilisator, die trillingen tot 5,5 stops compenseert, erg handig. Of je nu landschap, straat, architectuur of reisfotografie doet, deze Canon RF 28-70mm f/2.8 USM presteert in alle situaties uitstekend. Een veelzijdige alleskunner. Het enige min puntje is wellicht dat je niet direct kunt foto's maken maar dat hij eerst een stukje moet "inzoomen" om te gaan fotograferen.
