Strength: Sharp enough in the center, even wide open! Weakness: But it never gets as good in the sides or corners, which is the whole point of buying a lens that show more things out there! So all of Nikons wide-zooms are quite unusable and not worth the money. (save for the 14-24/2.8) For the asking price, this is laughably bad. Take two images with the 18-55mm instead, an you have the whole scene in better quality!

I purchased this lens in june of 2018 of last year in used a few time and the lens barrel started to wiggle side to side. Sent it to nikon for repair. The barrel is fixed but now images are out of focus on left side and images have flare and glare at any highlight area as if internal elements are dirty. Have used Nikon for 40+ years and very disappointed in their decline of quality.

This is an initial impression review and I will update it in the next couple months as I use the lens. The lens, although used, is in very good condition. The only used part seems to be the rim on the front having a few dents. The optics look fine and the motor/focusing looks good. I have taken pictures over the last 3 days without issues.

I do a lot of different "projects" with my photography, including real estate work I do for a few local realtors. I use a Nikon D7100 and this lens is exactly what I wanted. It allows me to get some real nice images inside at 10mm (15mm equivalent). Since I use the HDR approach with my interiors and shoot at f8 most of the time, I don't need the more expensive f2.8 lens. This lens works with the exteriors as well. I process in Lightroom 6 so I can make adjustments using the transform tool to get everything nice and straight. The lens is on the camera most of the time even when I am doing other types of work. I also use a Nikon D610 which is use with the Nikon 70-200 f2.8 and know I can use the 10-24 lens on that camera as well. The fact that I had a $250 gift certificate made the purchase a little easier!
