To me, it belongs to the compact holy binity (the other one being the Pany 35-100 f/4-5.6). They cover an incredible range (the missing 19-34mm range you cover by walking a little bit or getting a zoom pancake) and weight less than 150g each. Can you have it in any other system? I hope Olympus and Panasonic dont forget the main strength of this system. Negatives: The silver accent at the bottom; The cosmetic (and optional) hood. Hint: the alternative LH-55C for the 12-50mm is more useful and doesnt vignette; The price.

Early days, I've only had it a week and a few test shots aren't enough to judge how well it's going to turn out for me. It's clearly a decent lens, seems well made and my past experience with Olympus suggests I won't be disappointed. My four star rating could well become a five after I've used it a while, but the lack of any sort of bag, even a cheap one, to protect the lens is a bit disappointing when spending almost half a grand so that might account for at least half a star. I'm hoping this will become my walk-around travel lens for general 'scenery' shots and should complement my 14-150mm which, although quite versatile, just lacks that wider end on occasions. I already own the 7-14mm F2.8 and I don't expect it to match that of course but it's a fraction of the size and weight and that's important when travelling. High hopes anyway.

Suddenly my Olympus 9-18 mm stopped working in my Lumix GX8 camera, sent all to Panasonic, no solution. Attempting to upgrade Olympus lens firmware on the 9-18 bmm lens to no avail, going in circles on that process. I'd avoid mixing lens with other camera brands, just about wrecked my vacation in Armenia, not worth the risk, luckily the combo died towards the end of the trip and I had 2 backups.

Goede aankoop! Licht van gewicht, makkelijk in de omgang, werkt snel. Werkt perfect op mijn Panasonic Lumix, ben er zeer tevreden mee. Ik raad hem zeker aan aan iedereen.
