De Panasonic Lumix GH6 is vooral geliefd bij videomakers dankzij de uitgebreide videomogelijkheden, hoge resolutie en uitstekende beeldstabilisatie. De bouwkwaliteit is stevig en het scherm is volledig draaibaar, wat handig is bij filmen. Nadelen zijn de matige autofocus, het relatief zware ontwerp en een batterij die snel leeg raakt. Ook missen sommige functies die bij de vorige generatie wel aanwezig waren. Voor wie vooral video schiet en al MFT-lenzen bezit, is dit een sterke keuze, maar fotografen of wie betere autofocus zoekt, kunnen elders beter slagen.

The Panasonic LUMIX GH6 is an excellent choice for studio video. It has good dynamic range and superb internal recording capabilities, with uncropped 4k 120 fps recording and ProRes codecs in 5.7k, along with open gate recording from the full 5.8k resolution of its sensor and high frame rate shooting in 1080p at up to 240 fps. It also boasts full V-Log recording and 10-bit 4:2:2 color in most resolutions and frame rates. The latest firmware updates add external RAW video output via HDMI. Plus, the camera includes pro-level vectorscope and waveform tools to help you nail exposure. Its internal battery life isn't the longest, but you can extend it by using external power delivery, and the camera even has built-in heat vents to prevent overheating during long shooting days.

The 2017 GH5 is probably the best performing budget filmcamera ever produced, relative to it's timeframe. The 5 years younger GH6 feels like an overboosted GH5, which comes with compromises. The main benefit of the GH6 is faster framerates at 4:2:2 and more advanced codecs. It would have been worth it, if it didn't have a very serious streaking issue, that I unfortunately only discovered after purchase, on the very first test. It's a total deal breaker.
