Sony Alpha A1

Having Used the A1 now since its release back in 20, and owning the 200-600, 100-400 G-master and the Sigma Art 24-70 I can honestly say that this camera is a beast. I have even dropped it once while traversing Ronas Hill in Shetland, the A1 with 200-600 fell to the ground and the only thing that broke was around the thread attachment lens hood, easily replaced. The camera it has gotten wet on pelagic expeditions with and without a rain cover and it just keeps going - the quality of image is amazing - i have run some 100,000 photos through this and the only issue i can find, is when doing 8k footage, and then swapping to take stills in the high setting the camera can get a bit confused. Its nothing major, and considering the demand i put on the camera I am not surprised...! I would recommend this camera to anyone

This is a fantastic camera. I already own the Canon R5 which is equally as good. However, I found that taking photographs of fast moving objects left more motion blur than I desired with the Canon R5. The Sony A1 on the other hand I've found I can shoot fast moving objects with little to no blur. The bonus as well is that you can crank up the shutter speed on the A1 more than the R5. However, in my opinion I feel the eye auto focus on the Canon R5 is better and quicker at picking up focus. The A1 hunts at times. I've also noticed that the camera can become unresponsive at times, but thankfully it was easily resolved by taking the battery out and reinserting. I'll be using both cameras going forwards for stills and videos. I was also really pleased that the camera was shipped with the CF express type A card. If you decide to take the plunge on the A1, make sure you get a CF express type A card. Otherwise, you will be hindering the camera's performance.

Good Points: Pin-point accurate Autofocus tracking Mechanical shutter not too Lous or quiet - just right Speed is amazing Choice between SD and CfExpress Type A Outstanding ISO performance with 50 MP Able to crop images aggressively survived being hit against a concrete wall yesterday. (BIG PLUS) Improvement Points: Firmware updates few and far between No inbuilt vertical grip Eats batteries for breakfast

Good Points: Excellent quality images Incredibly Fast autofocus, frame rate burst and build quality. This camera must have one of the best focus systems on the planet. High ISO capability is amazing with very low noise.

The sony a1 is my main work machine for a year now, previously I used not only another machine, but I used a totally different camera system, I used to use a Lumix G9 for my wildlife and nature work and at the same time a fujifilm GFX50R for work where a higher image quality is required, such as advertising work, corporate portraits, fine art, among other things. Within this user experience I was very limited by the respective limitations of the machines I used, the G9 on the one hand was ...
