When I received the Radio I tried to tune it both with AM and FM stations, but it did not lock onto any stations. I tried to tune it manually but it only went in steps of 10KHz so did not get 774 (local abc radio) and I could not tune this in properly.. It was very distored because I could not tune it in properly. Tried it on new batteries and a power adapter, but did not make any difference. Returned unit to Amazon and got a full refund, and bought the more expensive (and much larger) radio.. This one works VERY well. We live in Metro Melbourne and in a very good radio reception area, never had trouble tuning a radio in before!!!

This is a very satisfactory radio with some outstanding features. The sound quality is excellent for such a small radio, and gets plenty loud without distortion. The volume control is a pushbutton and the volume is displayed on the screen in numbered increments, which is very handy. The preset controls are super easy to use. The battery case is easy to open and stays shut like it's supposed to. The casing and the antenna are very sturdy. I drive a delivery route in a noisy truck without a radio, so this radio is rubber-banded to my sun visor and I use it all day. I've had several small portable radios in the last five years and this is by far the best.

Sangean makes great little radios. This one looks good, is small but with a good sound, and works well.

Update 9/5: Yeah, got the radio, without a power supply. That odd decision of not including a power supply with the radio--is now an annoying, borderline idiotic decision.... Update 8/30: This is so good and easy to work with--that I bought a second one to replace my other clock/radio. I needed a radio with AM/FM capabilities, a digital tuner and presets. It is a work area radio so the display or the alarm is not important to me. Pleasantly surprised at its small sleek design; sound is great, reception is awesome. Even better, the presets take about 3 seconds to set--index to the station, hold a preset button for 3 seconds. Should have done this years ago instead of always dialing in the stations with the old analogue tuner. Definitely thinking of buying another one. Only odd thing about this radio--why do they sell it without a power supply? I knew that ahead of time so I ordered it with the radio. Works great!
