Very good Blu-Ray release which is Codefree and contains german track. As someone wrote already: subtitles appearing only during the dialogue scenes but not during the songs. The movie is beautiful photographed. Even the title scene with the fiddler on the roof is already a masterpice. The story is very interesting and yes funny too which plays in a dark time during russian revolution. It was hard life then and a cold area so thats why the colors are "cold" too. Myself I prefer those old classic musical/movies with a good story AND Dialogues compared with new movies which are overloaded with special effect etc. Also the actors are fantastic. Even Paul Michael Glaser in a supporting role which came famous a few years later as "Starsky and Hutch". The bonus features like intereviews with the cast (with the daughters) and making of are very interesting. Fazit: its a must have one Blu-Raytitle when you like good cinema and musicals.

A superb film on many levels, Fiddler on the Roof is a must-see, and looks even better now in high-definition, though the DVD will be fine for those who've been buying those earlier releases and given the lack of new extras save for the remixed audio. Still, it's a great package of material and a DVD Talk Collector Series Title.

If you don't have a lump in your throat by the end of Fiddler in the Roof , you might want to get to a coronary specialist to make sure you still have a heart. This beautifully tender and simultaneously hilariously raucous musical is a loving testament to the power of family in the face of change and hugely sweeping societal forces. Graced by one of the most iconic scores of the 1960's, lovingly adapted by John Williams, and delivered to film with some very smart choices by director Norman Jewison, Fiddler on the Roof has lost none of its immediacy nor indeed its relevance. This new Blu-ray offers excellent image and audio quality and should excite even those who normally are immune to the charms of film musicals. Very highly recommended .
