When Max Dillon (Foxx) is transformed into living electricity by an industrial accident, Peter Parker (Garfield) — aka Spider-Man — protects New York City from his rages. Having sworn to keep his girlfriend Gwen Stacy (Stone) out of Spider-Man’s dangerous business, Peter struggles with their relationship, but Gwen is determined not to let him make decisions for her.

Im not a fan of the genre, so my opinion is pretty well formed without even needing to watch the film. Somehow, I eventually made it through to the end - it took quite a few attempts. Just another typical neverending affair, anyone who has ever seen one of these comic book movies knows exactly what to expect. Not that I know a lot about Emma Stone, but I always thought she was a somewhat accomplished actress. I honestly could not stand her in this film, I dont know why. And poor Sally Field, looking so old, I wish she were invited into the Marvel world and allowed to reprieve her role as a crime fighting "Flying Nun" - now thats a superhero movie that could save the genre for me. Note to self... you are to old for these movies - stop wasting your time on them.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 while pouring out the visual special effects eye candy lacks any real depth of dramatic effect even though Peter Parker struggles with emotional attachments to Gwen and his Aunt May. Jamie Foxx's Electro is a mediocre villain while Rhino is a flash in the pan. Andrew Garfield is a decent fit for this role and he carries the story to the best of his acting abilities. Sony's UHD shines with a perfect PQ presentation as it should since it boasts a 4K master while audio is a very good Atmos track. Extra's are well informed into the aspects of the film and final thoughts are worthy of a view and a spot on your shelf.....

I am very much a fan of Amazing Spider-Man 2 and strongly prefer it over part 1. This story jumps right into the action and along the way gives us a cool villain team up. I think this movie captures the comic book feel perfectly and I'm very happy to add it to my 4k collection. This 4k presentation is one of the best I've seen with amazing color and great detail to every scene. Everything looks incredibly lifelike even with so many computer effects. Video is incredibly clear and very sharp. Sound is loud and clear. Sony never disappoints with their 4k quality. All special features are found on the included Blu-ray disc. This is one of the best 4k releases I've seen with lots of cool special effects and colorful characters and backgrounds to show off what 4k can do.

I'm in the minority who prefer part two over the first. Part two is more colorful with more action, more villains and more fun. Instead of spending so much time retelling Spider-Man's origin, we get right into the action. I like the 3 different villains here much better than part one's Lizard. The special effects on Jamie Foxx Electro are particularly well done as are the effects on Spider-Man. I thought this movie was good enough that they could have kept going with the same cast but instead chose to end the Amazing series with just two movies, the second of which I thought showed some promise. Video quality is sharp and colorful as is standard for all modern Sony movie releases. Sound is loud and clear and delivers the dialogue and all music and effects cleanly. Lots of extra features including deleted scenes and feature length director's commentary.
