The Poseidon Adventure is the best of the 1970s disaster movie craze One h e c k of a film . Melodramatic a tad; but the cast namely Gene Hackmen who performance is riveting. Shelly Winters , Ernest Borgnine , Stella Stevens, Red Buttons , Pamela Sue Martin , Carol Lynley , Jack Albertson & Eric Shea are such a fabulous ensemble . There combined talents makes The Poseidon Adventure just gel into one of the greatest "Classic" disaster movie's ever produced . Fantastic film. The Summer of Shake - & - Bake !!! Earthquake and The Towering Inferno ! I going to buy both to add to my 70's Disaster collection !

Beyond the absence of supplements, Mill Creek's release of The Poseidon Adventure makes for a fair replacement on the marketplace for the Echo Bridge version. Video is largely unchanged (and still encoded at MPEG-2). This release dumps several of the superfluous audio options and retains only a solid enough Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack. The movie isn't a loss; it's a fun enough little escape, a decent retelling of an old tale. Worth a look, though people who already own the Echo Bridge release can pass without worry.

Great disaster flick fom the seventies. Irwin Allen was the master of these films and The Poseidon Adventure shows just that. It holds your interest throughout with fascinating characters. Characters that you care about are the key ingredients in any disaster film. People that you are rooting for. PQ is great for a film from the early seventies, kudos to Fox for such a great effort with the visuals. The audio is not bad either. Extras are transported from the two disc dvd version and are, sadly, kept in standard dvd. This is one of those, "They don't make 'em like that anymore", films that is great to have in any collection.

As a film, The Poseidon Adventure has aged well and holds up marvelously. As a Blu-ray, it arrives from Fox with a beautiful image, a serviceable soundtrack and an informative collection of extras. Highly recommended, especially if you can get it from a local Wal-Mart at the current bargain price.
