Mad Max was, is and always shall be a legitimate B-movie classic with a great performance from Gibson and some amazing direction from Miller. It holds up incredibly well and is one of those movies you can go back to time and time again. Kino's Blu-ray release has only one new extras, but it is a good one and it carries over everything of importance from past editions, which is a nice touch. The audio is solid, giving us three choices, and the transfer is a quite good. Highly recommended.

George Miller crafts a gruesome world. One filled with exciting characters and fantastically crazy villains. It pulls few punches making for a satisfying, violent, and dark movie. For what is essentially an older movie the stunts and special effects are very well-done. It also has a unique style that few other movies have been able to emulate. The originality leads to the world and characters keeping you involved even if the plot tends to meander a bit. With fantastic performances all around, some deranged villains, and violent scenarios it's definitely a darker piece of fiction. George Miller keeps it all going with some great action and a straight-face. If you haven't given this movie a chance before there's plenty of reason to go on this "mad" ride.

A solid eight out of ten, even though a lot of people find it to be a very boring movie. I think it is good for what it started, as the sequels would thankfully improve upon it.

Despite the films low-budget, Mad Max is a gritty cop movie classic, that has some of the most astounding and realistic car chases and road stunts ever committed to film, that helps to bring Millers & Kennedy's vision to life of a brutal and violent future where the world is breaking down into lawlessness and anarchy.

Honestly, the first Mad Max was good. But it shouldn't have been part of the trilogy, because this is the only one NOT during the apocalypse. If you think of it in the way that this has no sequels, it's a masterpiece.
