Makita RP0900 Bovenfrees - 900W - 8mm

Great router with plenty of power! love the plunge feature on this guy. I use this in my shop and on site when installing all the time.

This would have been a 5-star review but... Like all products, defects happen. Makita is my favorite brand of power tool, I just happened to get a bad one. The vertical shafts were loose and getting more loose with each use. MaxTool was wonderful handling the return. I knew it didn't have softstart but did not expect it to twist so much on startup.

Great product. Another reviewer noted difficulty with the plunge sticking. No problem with mine. The router operates smoothly with no excessive vibration. Fairly light and will be used on small furniture and cabinets. I've had a fixed based Makita router for over 25 years. Recently had to replace the cord due to dry rot, but otherwise functions well. So I expect to get many years of use out of this router.

I purchased this unit to replace my old one of similar design. It lasted 24 years. Purchased in October week. Before are wedding. I own a custom cabinet shop so the tools needless to say get used daily. I've ordered two more with the dust collection attachments. More the shipping was shocking. Placed the order mid morning Saturday thinking maybe Monday. Sunday morning it was on my front porch. Thanks

We have 8 routers in my shop, not counting the small laminate cutting ones. If the job allows, this seems to be everyone's favorite. It was one I bought because my father had it as a hobbyist, and for light, hobbyist jobs it works very well. It is light weight, and very easy to keep flat. It is designed for light weight work, not anything that demands great precision or power. For rounding over corners, cutting thin material, using it on a vertical surface, and for most hobbyist, I think it is great. I've even caught the guys using it on thin solid surface materials, where it is definitely under-powered. Light weight and stable, great little router. After almost 20 years, I may have to buy another.
