Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night wordt geprezen om zijn diepgaande Metroidvania-gameplay, uitgebreide kasteelkaart en grote hoeveelheid aanpasbare wapens en krachten. De sfeer en het ontwerp doen sterk denken aan klassieke Castlevania-titels, wat vooral fans zal aanspreken. Er zijn echter technische minpunten zoals framedrops en lange laadtijden, en de moeilijkheidsgraad op normaal wordt soms als te laag ervaren. Ook kan het camerastandpunt platformen en ontwijken bemoeilijken. Over het algemeen is het een aanrader voor liefhebbers van verkenning en actie, mits je kleine technische tekortkomingen accepteert.

Really poor level design decisions make this game very tiring to explore. The movable bookshelves in the mech library are never fully explained so you will get stuck for 2 hours until you look it up. Bosses have cheese attacks, 2nd boss is brutally hard for no reason. Animations are clunky and the art has really poor cohesion, everything looks mildly out of place. No idea how this got 9/10 reviews. It's a 7/10 if I'm being really lenient. Shovel Knight, Ori, and for certain Hollow Knight are all so much better.

I’ve never played a Metroidvania game and I wanted to get ready for Dread. It’s been my first step into these types of games and since Bloodstained I’ve been having a ton of fun in the genre. I only wish it had local two player co-op like the box listed.

I ordered a “ New” copy of Bloodstained for my PS4. When I picked up the order they gave me a copy that was opened, with sticker residue on the case, without a manual and fingerprints on the disc. When I asked the clerk about the condition of the product, and stated this is not a “New” copy of the game, he insisted it was new, but it was a “gutted” copy. He stated it used for display and the manual was taken out. Whatever the reason for this condition I do not consider it “New” and Game Stop should not be selling it as “New” but they are, so buyer beware. For now on I will call the store before ordering anything labeled as “New” on this website.
