Playstation 3 - Risen 3 - Titan Lords

While this game may have it's flaws, I'm really enjoying it. I've never played the other "Risen" games, but that doesn't seem to matter. I like that it is neither TOO challenging nor too easy. Halfway through, I don't have a ridiculous amount of unspendable gold, nor am I "invincible"...(as experienced in the Elder Scrolls games). I can see this as a good fit for more "casual" gamers and/or older players (i.e. those who started on the ORIGINAL Playstation) like myself. If you like "classic" RPGs, are feeling no strong urge to upgrade your PS3 and want to romp around the Caribbean as a nameless, snarky-but-mostly-nice (or NOT nice; your choice!) pirate, give this one a shot. A few bits of advice: Be patient- your character is REALLY weak and untrained after being resurrected! Also...get the Fog Island DLC (and go grab "Freddy's Shackles") EARLY in the game! And finally, DON'T get the game if coarse language is an issue. These guys swear "like sailors"!

Underrated RPG. Enjoying this a lot more than I thought. While it has a pirate theme, it's not like AC:Black Flag. Not much naval action. You are on foot, exploring for most of the game. It's still fun and something different. The Dungeons and dragons style RPG has been done to death. I never played the first 2, and it doesn't matter, I don't feel like I don't know what's going on. There have been 2 or 3 references to what happened in the prior games, but that's about it. I put around 70 hours in my first play though. There are 3 factions to join, and you can only join one, so you can do 3 play throughs if you want the full experience. Great game for the price, for sure.

This game looks and feels like a game from 2006, but it was released in 2014!? This has "budget game" written all over it. I played it for an hour and lost all interest in continuing.

The game is ok. The combat system is a little clunky and requires some getting used to. There is an abundance of quests to partake in as well as a lot of opportunity for exploration. The game definitely feels dated and has trouble passing the test of time. Overall I am satisfied with my purchase, but would recommend a rental over a purchase unless you are a fan of this franchise/game developer because this game will not please everyone.
