Sim Copter biedt een unieke ervaring waarin je als piloot noodsituaties in een 3D-stad oplost. Je kunt eigen SimCity 2000-steden importeren of standaard steden gebruiken, wat veel variatie geeft. De besturing is eenvoudig en de missies zijn afwisselend, van branden blussen tot mensen redden. De sfeer wordt versterkt door grappige radiozenders en muziek. Nadelen zijn de sterk verouderde graphics, het simpele vliegmodel en enkele frustrerende missies. Op moderne computers werkt het spel alleen met extra patches of in een virtuele machine. Voor liefhebbers van klassieke simulatiegames is het een aanrader, maar verwacht geen realistische helikoptersimulatie.

For Windows 7 you cannot install the program on your computer you can copy the glide.dll and sst1init.dll files from the cd/simcopter/setup/system folder and into your windows/system folder not your system 32 folder. You will need to open the cd folder and right click on the autorun.exe and set your computer to run in Windows 95 265 colors and run as administrator. Then you can run form the CD autorun.exe. There is a bug in the program, which causes the program to crash after running for a period of time, but I found that if you saved the game after each mission is completed into you document folder the program will run fine.

I remember playing this way back when, and it is still just as fun. Given that computers are much more powerful today, you have to do a few tricks to get it to play. Lots of fun!

I actually upgraded from Win 3.1 to Win 95 just so that I could install and play this game, way back when (since it required Win 95). One of the coolest things to do is take the Apache and launch missiles at the Nuclear Reactor/Cooling Towers, try to get away as fast as you can before your screen freezes and goes white as the reactor goes critical. Or, you can shoot at the UFO's and watch them retaliate!! Yes, lots of bugs, but that is what makes it fun and generates much laughter as your pilot and other "people" make the weirdest sounds!! Now I have to play this in a Win. XP VM, but it works!

This game is awesome. The scene is like this: You have a helicopter. In the first level, there are three cities. They are: Diabloville, Sea Cliff and one more, I forgot the name. Or you can use a SimCity you made using SimCity2000. There are many things to do: You must put out fires, clear traffic jams, rescue people from the tops of buildings, medevac Sims (don't ask), stop criminals, transport people from one place to another or end a riot. It's a very fun game.

I had a great time with the game Sim Copter. It took only a couple of minutes to learn the proper flying tecniques. You don't need to be an expert pilot to be good at this game. I found it quite interesting because of all the little things added in. I love the idea of having different radio stations that you can listen to, and the commercials on those stations were very creative. I do believe, however, that this wasn't one of Maxis's triumphant games. The graphics aren't all that great, and I couldn't stand when the criminals that you have to catch would get stuck on an unreachable part of a building. The part that I liked most was probably the freedom to fly anywhere you want. The city was open to almost anything you wanted to do. Overall I think that Sim Copter was a very good game but could have been better with a couple of improvements.
