Daikatana is een first-person shooter die bekend staat om zijn grote ambitie en vier unieke tijdperken, elk met eigen wapens en vijanden. De RPG-elementen en upgradebare stats geven het spel extra diepgang. Toch wordt het spel sterk bekritiseerd vanwege de slechte AI van teamgenoten, veel bugs en een verouderde grafische engine. Vooral de eerste episode wordt als zwak en frustrerend ervaren. Voor liefhebbers van afwisselende shooters met een uitdaging kan Daikatana interessant zijn, maar technische problemen en matige uitvoering maken het een moeilijke aanrader.

Even with the community patch 1.3, this game is, in every aspect, terrible. Eidos should have spared everyone involved with the development of this game the embarrassment and canceled the game. I am honestly shocked that they released this game at all, considering Half-Life came out two years prior to this and is an infinitely better game. Don't waste several hours of your life playing this garbage.

Just beat the whole game, it's.. defnetly a game that was made, by a team. just.. don´t play this.

I mean, the first episode is an absolute mess. But the whole idea and art style was very 2000s and I see how this could have turned out amazing at the time... Unfortunately thats another timeline. I say give it a go with patch 1.3 and if those sidekicks piss you off, just disable them
