If you can get over the very basic storyline, than it is a great game. As a kid I always wanted to play this game on the PS2, yet I never got a chance to buy it. Even though the graphics are a bit dated, I still enjoyed this game. Very similar to Onimusha Warlords type game.

The gargantuan and challenging bosses, in a mythical setting, is what makes the game fun.

I picked this up because I wanted to beef up my Wii collection, and I loved Rygar on the original NES. So far this game did not disappoint! Admittedly it takes some time getting used to the controls. The Wiimote is not the best way to control this type of game. It looks and acts more like a God of War game than anything else I can think of, but with the Wiimote its easy to get the camera messed up in the wrong spot. Once you get used to it though, its not a problem. The story line is good, gameplay is good, lots of fun, I highly recommend it.

I was quite excited to play this game when I first purchased it. I remember when Rygar went to 3D on the Playstation 2 and it was a pretty fun game with some limitations in combat and platforming, but fun. So when I put in the new Rygar to my disappointment, I realized the only this "new" in this game is that they re-skinned Rygar, keeping the game the exact same from the ps2 version. This had potential...too bad it was just a port.

The only problem of this game: being a Version, not a Renake, for the Wii of the same PlayStation 2 title. The story is interesting and all, but Koei-Tecmo could hae don too much more and better for this title due Wii's resources. Who knows another company buy/be hired for a new Rygar game or Tecmo-Koei try rebooting this promissing title soon?
