Assassin's Creed Rogue (Essentials) biedt sterke gevechtsmechanieken en uitgebreide zeegevechten, vergelijkbaar met Black Flag. Het unieke Templar-perspectief en de vele zijmissies maken het aantrekkelijk voor fans. Wel is het hoofdverhaal kort en voelt gehaast aan, met weinig emotionele diepgang bij de personages. Veel locaties en gameplay zijn hergebruikt, waardoor het minder vernieuwend is. Grafische fouten en beperkte vernieuwing worden vaak genoemd. Het spel is vooral geschikt voor liefhebbers van de serie die de naval combat en het verzamelen waarderen, maar wie op zoek is naar een diepgaand verhaal of veel vernieuwing kan teleurgesteld zijn.

Don't wanna spoil anything, but if you played others, you'll enjoy this one too. Kind of a filler from the franchise. Still great!
