Guerlain Eau de Cologne Impériale is een klassieke citruskolonie met veel bergamot, citroen en neroli, ondersteund door lavendel, tonkaboon en hout. De geur wordt breed geprezen om zijn zeer frisse, schone en tijdloze karakter en is duidelijk uniseks. Veel gebruikers dragen hem vooral in warm weer of als verkwikkende splash om zich op te frissen, soms zelfs bij lichte hoofdpijn of een ‘zwaar hoofd’. Tegelijk is het belangrijk te weten dat dit een echte eau de cologne is: de houdbaarheid op de huid is beperkt en meerdere recensies klagen dat hij na 15 tot 60 minuten grotendeels verdwenen is, tenzij je royaal bijsprayt. Het uitgesproken citroenkarakter wordt door liefhebbers als sprankelend en helder ervaren, maar sommige mensen vinden het te eenzijdig of te veel richting schoonmaakmiddel. De compositie is bewust eenvoudig en niet erg complex, wat prettig is als je iets lichts en direct fris zoekt, maar minder geschikt als je een diepe, lang aanhoudende parfumervaring verwacht.

The scent is a lovely light and refreshing, doesn't last as long as other colognes. It would be nice to get an eau de toilette I use it every day. Bottle finished just bought another.,Bottle is beautiful to look at. I've given four stars based on the fragrance not lasting long.

I always wear this cologne and stock up whenever there is a discount. I struggle with perfumes as so many are too overpowering for me, this is beautiful, light and fresh. It would be five stars if it had just a little more staying power.

L'eau Imperial is the most amazing scent. It has citrus and bergamot tones and is my very favourite perfume atm. It was apparently made for Empress Eugenie wife of Napoleon 111. I was thrilled to see that John Lewis stocked it after doing a number of searches. It's a very refreshing scent and appeals to both men and women. I won't go out without it on!

This is certainly the 2nd best Eau de Cologne I have ever bought, sadly in 1st place was one called Eau de Frivole by Givenchy which I bought directly from Fragonard, Grasse France in 1973 but is no longer made. I would not hesitate to recommend Guerlains Imperiale Eau de Cologne, surely the cream of the crop!
