CARNER BARCELONA Costarela Eau de Parfum 100 ml

Costarela is a Mediterranean-inspired aquatic fragrance that excels at evoking emotion and atmosphere over technical performance. The opening bursts with zesty bergamot and saffron, creating a warm, sunny impression reminiscent of a Mediterranean citrus plantation. However, this beautiful opening fades within 5 minutes, transitioning to the fragrance's signature sand accord—a unique, realistic warm note that genuinely evokes white sand and seaside relaxation. The base develops with amber and ambroxan, creating a sensual, sun-kissed skin effect. While the composition is well-blended and emotionally evocative, performance is notably weak with only 3-4 hours longevity and minimal projection. Best suited for those prioritizing olfactory storytelling and summer atmosphere over lasting power; sample before purchasing if performance matters to you.

From the title, you can see that I don't necessarily smell what is indicated in the pyramid, but scent perceptions are just special. At first, I smell a synthetic-citrusy opening, which I don't like. Then I have to think of a lavender field with a pine forest next to it, so definitely a Mediterranean area, but not necessarily by the sea. The sea joins in a bit late, it actually takes quite a while. I actually like that part, but it's very close to the skin and becomes quite skinny after 2 hours with a slight woody note. It's actually refreshing, but I would prefer to smell it on a man. And the opening is just bothersome. It would be nicer without development and with this maritime note right away.
