If there are multiple sound sources, it tends to garble them all into one terrible recording. I was using a Sony, PXW-Z90V, and it drains the battery about 1-2% per minute of use. It also doesnt fit well on the camera extension that is made for it. Even with the spacer, it still wobbles a lot. Its decent when there is a single source. The range that it can record well is about 5.

Destiné au caméscope HXR-NX80 de Sony. J'avais fait plusieurs essais avec d'autres marques et ce n'était pas probant. Celui-ci correspond parfaitement à ce que je cherchais, tant par la taille, le type de modèle que par le résultat obtenu. Une bague en caoutchouc jointe au pack sert à stabiliser le micro sur la poignée XLR. Nécessaire et absente avec d'autres marques. Conforme aux informations techniques fournies.

Mates to the camera and gives adequate coverage for natural sound. Some things just aren't flashy by nature. What counts is that it fits the Sony cam mounts and works fine.

Compared to the Sony ECM-XM1 (which I have used for several years), the ECM-VG1 is marginally superior in that it has a low-cut switch to help minimize low frequency rumble. Otherwise I do not detect any significant difference when mounted on a video camera. I have not used it in a more controlled environment, but I don't believe it would measure up to the Sennheiser ME66 K6. It is a little longer, overall, than I would have preferred, but I would not hesitate to buy it again.
