Dr. Hauschka Make-up Lippen Lipstick 02 Mandevilla

I wish I could find a good color in this lipstick - but they are all too dark, too brown, too something... They are lovely though. Good amount of moisturizing, I do like the Dr. H. cosmetics. But the colors in this lipstick are just really limited - if you find one that suits you, great, but if not... well, they rarely come out with anything new. As for the carmine thing, yeah it is gross, and I do try to stick to vegan lipsticks whenever I can. However, look at the ingredients lists for almost any cosmetics brand - MAC, Chanel, Clinique, any of 'em - yup, carmine. Unless you are buying strictly vegan cosmetics, you are ingesting those little crushed beetles.

I received #07 as a gift and I am so thrilled with how much I like it. It's a lovely mid tone cool pink with a satiny finish. Slightly frosted but I would call it a satin, not a frost. It feels satiny on the lips, not dry at all. The smell is herbal like medicated lipbalm or aniseed or something along those lines. Very nice for the medicated lipbalm lover. It reminds me a little of the blue pot of blistex only much gentler. Goes well with my fishermans' friends. I find that when I wear this lipstick the condition of my lips *improves*. Gobsmacking!! Such a great lippie!! If it weren't for the prohibitive price I would definitely be trying more colours - we'll see when I get to the end of this tube whether I buy again. At this stage I would say that I will.

SImply one of the best all-around lipsticks I've ever used: beautiful colors, increased health of lip skin, smell glorious, and last a long time. As truly organic makeup becomes more common, high quality products that are less expensive are easier to find. As a splurge, or even to just use a color that looks great on you every day, I think it's an amazing buy.

After swatching all the shades at my local health food store, I ended up buying number 03, which is described as a soft sandy brown. I thought that after swatching on the back of my hand that the colour would be cool, but on the lips it appears as a warm, peachy brown which looks beautiful over Dr. Hauschka lip balm. Very sheer, but still pigmented I only have to reapply a few times during the day, one tube will last a while. I also love the rosy, herbal scent, they are very expensive but if you are looking for a natural make-up line then Dr. Hauschka is hard to beat.

These are very good lipsticks especially for people like me who are trying to avoid parabens in their skin care and mu. I have a few of the colours but my favorite is No4 which is a brown/red shade. The reason why these aren't HG for me is that they lack the vavavoom of lipsticks from YSL or Christian Dior. I guess all those nasty chemicals give them the glam factor. Still Dr. Haushka is a wonderful alternative for those who are trying to walk the natural path! No 9 is a light pinky beige shade which is very flattering on many different skin tones, I think. No 2 is more for someone who regularly wears darker colours as it's a dark brown/reddish shade with a hint of mauve. If you want a glossy version check out their Novum range.
