Have 4/5 of these over the past 25 years, I tried these due to a having broken my wrist twice and would get quite achy after prolonged periods of drafting work. Trackball has effectively alleviated any of these past issues. They are so accurate and so much quicker to move around multiple screens. As another reviewer has said, the new ones are better and if maintained they are amazing for longevity.

I bought my first Kensington Trackball back in the late 90s and have never looked back. It was great. My hand cramps disappeared after only a few days. Since then these trackballs have got better and better. I've owned about 7 of them over the last 25 years. The new ones last longer and are much easier to clean. You'll have seen a one star review on here. I'll bet money he just didn't realise he had to take the ball out every couple of weeks and blow out the dust underneath it (where the laser receiver is). It's easy to do, but they don't tell you about it in the instructions. The precision and ease of use of this trackball is unparalleled and I've tried them all. Great for gaming too. No more lifting and swiping your mouse to turn fast (or doing the same to move a mouse pointer from one side of a 3-screen setup to the other). You just roll that ball, which is virtually effortless. Highly recommended.

I use this mouse por general purposes when using a computer. I love the fact that my wrist doesn’t get sore. One of the features that I find great is that after maybe 15 minutes of unused it turns off by itself.

Every time I do not use the cursor for a few minutes, it does not work until I unplug it and plug it in again.

The large-diameter trackball is totally smooth and has given me much better control over cursor position than any mouse I have ever used. I no longer have to be concerned about having to "row" a mouse to make large motions, and my control is always in exactly the same place, which saves desk space. Now if only Kensington would do something about that scratchy scroll ring... UPDATE: Subtracting one star because two days after my return window closed, the two top buttons stopped working. I had them assigned to Cmd-W on the left and Back on the right. Kensington Works shoed the buttons still have the functions I assigned, but they now do nothing.
