Zyxel XMG-1250-12 Slimme Beheerde Schakelaar 8x 1G Ethernet, 3x 2,5G Ethernet, 1x 10G SFP+

I switched to an operator offer at 8 Gb/s, so my 1Gb/s switch in the patch cabinet (Cat 6a cabling) was therefore outdated... I also changed my PC network card but my available PCIE slot only allows me 2,35Gb/s :-( however the ZYXEL has no problem sustaining the throughput, I was also able to do a link aggregation for my NAS (ports 7&8 of the zyxel pre-configured) and this very very easily. In short, a very good product for the amateur that I am.

Switch purchased to utilise the 10Gbs SFP+ port on the Freebox Ultra. Speeds are good thanks to the three 10 Gbs ports.

Ik heb deze switch nu 10 maanden in gebruik nadat mijn QNAP QSW-1208-8C was overleden. Hij staat in de meterkast, en is niet te horen. Hij wordt een beetje warm, met 3x 10G in gebruik. Iperf3 door de switch haalt de volle 10Gbps.

Een leuke switch met redelijk veel bang-for-buck opties. De web-managed interface is relatief simpel, maar voor thuiskantoor genoeg opties: VLAN's zijn redelijk overzichtelijk maar jammer van de scroll bar, link aggregation maar dan heel beperkt, port mirroring, quality of service en IGMP snooping: allemaal toegankelijk en simpel gehouden, maar het is er wel.

The Zyxel XGS1250-12 is an excellent choice for those wanting to enter the realm of 10Gbps wired networking right now. For the price, my only complaint about this switch is that it doesn’t have more Multi-Gig ports. Also, the fact it has just one SPF+ port means you won’t be able to take advantage of an SPF+ connection other than an uplink. It should have a pair or none at all—I can live with just four Base-T. All things considered, though, again, for the price, this is an excellent buy. Just make sure you already have a Multi-Gig router to couple with it, though it’ll work with any router.
