I have almost unlimited computer power but needed a stand alone calculator. I have owned one of these Casios in the past and short of the supreme TI-83/84 there are few if any calculators that can compare other than the Casio. I do not need graphing or programability.

I was choosing between fx-115 and this one, and decide to take newer model because of its screen. I thought that rounded symbols would be easy to read, But the screen is dark in reality, so for comfortable usage I need to use it under bright light. Also, the "shift" labels are not well visible on new black textured front panel, not sure it is good surface for calculator.

Coming from a TI Nspire CX CAS, this Casio is garbage. It isn't intuitive like the Nspire is, nor does it allow you to re-use equations from earlier. There is no way to recall a previous answer either. I spent hours on youtube watching videos to learn how to manipulate this calculator, but alas, it is a pile of garbage IMO. I hate that people had to ruin the FE exam forcing them to ban all "advanced" calculators.

I'm currently a university student majoring in electrical engineering. I have been using Casio calculator since I was in middle school. I bought this calculator because my professor did not allow me to use my old one ( a model from oversea) and I am so glad he did. I'm familiar with Casio calculator so it was not a real challenge to function with it even tho there are many changes from the previous model. This one is very powerful in terms of processing time and memory. It can solve up to 4th degree polynomial, 4x4 system of equations, and a bunch more impressive features. I highly recommend this calculator.
