De Braun Series 5 51-M1000s wordt gewaardeerd om zijn ergonomische handgreep, eenvoudige reiniging via het EasyClean-systeem en de AutoSense-technologie die zich aanpast aan verschillende baardtypes. De batterij gaat lang mee en snel opladen is handig. Het apparaat is volledig waterdicht, waardoor scheren onder de douche of met gel mogelijk is. Nadelen zijn het ontbreken van een geïntegreerde trimmer (je moet een opzetstuk gebruiken), de scheerkop is niet flexibel zoals bij duurdere modellen en er wordt geen reisetui meegeleverd. Voor wie een comfortabele, onderhoudsvriendelijke en veelzijdige scheerapparaat zoekt, is dit een sterke keuze, maar wie veel reist of een flexibele kop wenst, moet deze punten overwegen.

I bought this Series 5 to replace my, still functioning earlier model 5 with trimmer & cleaning station. As the new 5 was double the price of a new cutter assembly for my old 5, I thought why not. I kept the old 5 as the new one has no trimmer, except as an accessory. The new 5's water proofing failed and I had to have it replaced with the flexible head Series 6, which is better. The long hair 'catcher' on the new 5/6 is not functioning as the old 5. The centre blade flattens the hair before it can be cut.

Ik heb dit scheerapparaat nu een aantal dagen in gebruik. Wat mij opvalt is dat hij goed glad scheert makkelijk te reinigen is onder de kraan. Ik moest wel even wennen om een elektrisch apparaat onder de kraan af te spoelen, maar dit werkt makkelijker dan bij het borsteltje. De tondeuse is er makkelijk op te zetten en werkt goed.

De afgelopen dagen heb ik de Braun 50-B1620S Blue uitgetest. Het is een heel goed scheerapparaat. Hij scheert heel erg glad rondom de huid waardoor ik nooit meer last heb van huidirritaties. Daarnaast is het apparaat droog en nat te gebruiken. Ideaal voor onder de douche. De accu gaat ook erg lang mee. Ook is het apparaat makkelijk schoon te maken omdat er niet veel toeters en bellen opzitten. Hij doet gewoon wat hij moet doen.
