De Garmin Forerunner 745 is een GPS-sporthorloge met een 1,2" kleurendisplay en 240×240 pixels resolutie. Het horloge biedt ingebouwde GPS, hartslagmeting op de pols en meerdere sportprofielen voor hardlopen, fietsen en zwemmen. De accuduur bedraagt doorgaans circa 16 uur met continu ingeschakelde GPS. Het toestel is waterdicht tot 5 ATM en slaat veel trainingen op in het interne geheugen. In de doos zitten het horloge en een kabel voor laden en gegevensoverdracht.

The 745 is a very good triathlon watch, with the top-notch tracking I’ve come to expect from a high-end Garmin, plus upgraded training and recovery analysis tools. However, I hesitate to recommend it wholeheartedly because the battery life is below par, while the price puts it in the same ballpark as even better watches, making it a whole lot more expensive than options that offer the essential features a triathlete requires.

If you find the myriad of features of the Garmin Forerunner 945 confusing/overwhelming, the Forerunner 745 might just be the ideal multisport watch for you. Apart from some obscure fitness features (and battery life), the two watches are almost identical and equally as capable.

This is an upgrade from the 735. All the functionality is great outside of the Bluetooth connectivity feature has a tendency to cut out on longer runs. If I find anything over 6 to 7 MI I'm having it have minor connectivity issues to my Plantronics headset. I've not had this issue when I utilize my phone therefore I know it has something to do with the watch distance from the headset itself. Kind of hard to change how far away the watch is from your head to rectify the issue.

The Forerunner 745 is another solid addition to Garmin’s family of watches. It makes good upgrades on the 735XT, whether it’s the smaller design or the more useful training analysis insights. Our main gripes lie with the battery life outside of tracking and a price, which doesn't feel significantly cheaper than the 945 that sits above it. Also, watches like the Coros 2 put a question mark over why you should now be spending so much more on triathlon-centric features.

The Garmin Forerunner 745 delivers rich sports tracking and the new training insights are useful as long as you make a chest strap your training partner. What's hard to ignore are the price and gripes with battery life. With the Forerunner 945 regularly discounted, the 745 isn't that easy to recommend – and it should offer more in the battery department.
