Sorel Snowboots '1964 PAC' cognac / zwart

My 30-year-old pair of Sorel Caribou boots finally gave up the ghost and needed to be replaced. My old Canadian-made boots, with real wool felt liners were great, even in Northern Illinois occasional -20-degree weather. (I did have to replace the liner about 15 years ago but could still find wool replacement.) The new Vietnamese-made boots look and feel pretty much the same, other than a completely different tread pattern - with bumps, rather than chunks. The new boots fit perfectly and feel good walking, both in snow and on pavement. They have been quite comfortable in the +20 degree temperature we had this week in Maryland, and my micro-spikes fit the same as the old ones. I don't expect to be in sub-zero temps anytime soon, but I will be interested to see how the synthetic liner compares for warmth and durability over the long haul. With the first week's use, they appear to be really excellent winter boots.

Fit great and feel warm. They should last a longtime.

These are great boots. I had a pair that lasted at least 25 years before they had to be tossed. Expensive, but not if you consider the quality! Only complaint is that they run very large... not a problem if you are trying them on in the store, but I bought a men's size 8 online from REI for my son whose shoe size is mens 8 1/2, and they are way too big, which is the only reason I scored 4 stars. It remains to be seen if the quality is as high as the ones I bought in the 90s.

Received these just in time to use to go out and clean up 7” of snow. My old feet stayed warm and dry. And I expect they will stay that way for the rest of this winter and many more to come. I ordered a little large to compensate for warmer socks. You’ll also appreciate using over the calf socks.
