Manfrotto 244MINI Friction Arm

It certainly is better than the original for the purpose of holding light or other accessory in a particular position. I have the original and was using it to hold a studio strobe in an awkward place. The locking lever of the original was too difficult to swing through its arc to the lock position where I needed it to be. This is perfect!

I use these to support monitors, stabilize my slider, hang small LED lights over table tops. Easy to adjust and stay where you lock them.

Nicely constructed arm, holds itself strongly in position. I'm primarily using it to attach a ring flash to my tripod leg, but it seems like it could hold something much heavier with little problem.

I use the Magic Arm as a light stand to attach my soft box to a shelf. I actually own two. I like the way you just turn the knob and the whole thing locks up solid as a rock. It is an expensive piece of equipment, but worth it. There are numerous uses.

I am using this arm with the Manfrotto Super Clamp to hold my Einstein e640 strobes. With a $ strobe plus light modifier being held up the air I wanted to be sure that it is not going to fall. With this arm and clamp, you can tell instantly that you are safe and the arm allows so many tilting and mounting options. If you are not sure, spend the money and be sure!
