A great improvement on my previous extender, as has not lost the auto focus facilities, unlike the previous extender, so becomes a pleasure to use.

Item received well packed and on time, I would use Castle Cameras again.

I took up bird photography over a year ago by purchasing the Canon EOS 90D camera along with the Canon EF 100-400 mm f4.5-5.6 L IS II USM lens. During this time I have achieved excellent results, yet I wanted to get even closer to the birds and other wildlife. I took the plunge. I have not experienced any issues with the Mark III extender myself and would highly recommend it.

I read lots of reviews to confirm that the Canon EF Mark III 1.4x Extender would work with my EOS 5D mk 3 and my new Canon 100 - 400 lens . So I was disappointed when the autofocus showed absolutely no sign of working. I read in another review that the camera firmware could be updated to improve autofocus when using extenders. My camera was bought in July 2013 and had firmware version1:1:3. I downloaded firmware ver:1:3:6 from Canon and now the autofocus appears to work.

Just got this a day before an upcoming trip. I have a Canon 300mm f4L IS lens and was hoping to get some magnification for wildlife. I have a Canon 7D Mark ii. Well, at f8, the center focus points work and autofocus was fairly quick. I photographed some ducks about 100 yds away and they filled the frame. Feather detail is very good. I used a monopod and IS on. I am happy with the 2x and am looking forward to getting some nice wildlife shots on my trip. It will be a last resort, but sometimes you just need that extra boost and now I have it.
