Nikon Coolpix P1000

The Nikon COOLPIX P1000 is okay for sports and wildlife photography, particularly if you want plenty of zoom in an all-in-one camera. It has an extremely long built-in zoom lens that's great for capturing incredibly far-off subjects. The image quality is also decent for its class, although image quality degrades significantly in low light. Unfortunately, its burst shooting mode is mediocre. It can capture up to seven photos in a single burst, but it has to empty the buffer after each burst, slowing you down considerably. Its autofocus system also performs badly, so it can struggle to track moving subjects.

I wanted to get into photography, but not having to carry around a load of lenses etc. I have always been into astrology and had seen some photos people had taken of the moon using this camera. I also was able to get a photo of Jupiter and 3 of its moons but I need to get a better tripod and also a way of balancing the camera better, due to its superlong lens.

Big cumbersome and clumsy ..not only that but faulty ..had to return it ..camera kept shutting down after about 30 frames and only way to get it to work was to pop out the battery and re insert it !! Very disappointed and i’ve had Nikon cameras all my life

This camera was purchased for my husband's 60th birthday present and he absolutely loves it. No need for any more camera's this is the Rolls Royce of the camera world. A little expensive but worth every penny. Performance out of this world highly recommended.

A very good camera especially if you need an amazing zoom. I thought sone of the previous comments about just how good the zoom was were a bit exaggerated but they really aren’t. It can be a little on the heavy side but it’s ok for a while and a tripod sorts the rest. I am still getting used to all the modes and types of shots but so far a very happy chappy.
