Yves Saint Laurent MYSLF is een modern houtig-bloemig eau de parfum met frisse Calabrische bergamot bovenop een duidelijke oranjebloesemnoot en een basis van patchouli en Ambrofix. De geur wordt vaak omschreven als zeer toegankelijk, uitnodigend en compliment-vriendelijk, vergelijkbaar in stijl met populaire ‘blauwe’ geuren zoals Dior Sauvage of Bleu de Chanel. Daardoor is hij erg veelzijdig: geschikt voor bijna alle seizoenen, zowel casual als formeel, overdag en ’s avonds. De prestaties zijn meestal goed, met rond de zeven tot acht uur draagduur en merkbare maar niet overdreven projectie. Tegelijk vinden veel liefhebbers dat MYSLF weinig echt nieuws brengt en qua karakter wat voorspelbaar is, zeker gezien de hogere prijs. Voor kopers die vooral een veilige, moderne en makkelijk draagbare YSL-geur zoeken, is het echter een sterke allround keuze.

A few years ago, I only owned one signature fragrance, and this was the first one that impressed me more. Even today, Myself is my all-time favorite designer fragrance. Now that my interest has also shifted toward niche fragrances, I have to admit that I prefer many other fragrances to this one. But one thing you can definitely say is that Myself is an absolute compliment magnet, at least for me, and I still wear it frequently despite my now extensive selection of niche perfumes. Wonderful citrus, fresh, elegant masculinity in the bottle + the typically generic designer synthetics, which overall round it off more than they detract from it.
