I bought this because my 1 and 1/2 year old son likes to go into the TV cabinet and unplug everything and will occasionally throw TV remotes and controllers. I was using this in the TV cabinet to store media and archive materials. It only took 3 times of him getting in there and unplugging it when we weren't looking for it to break the connector. The drive itself was very fast and a good price, but there is almost no point to having a rugged drive if the connector is not also rugged. I just purchased a USB to SATA external drive dock so hopefully I can recover my data and wipe the drive so I can return it to Amazon. Depending on how well the dock works I may just use that in combination with some sturdy child locks.

I bought two of these and both have the exact same issue. Also other reviewers have brought up the same issue. It continually loses connection and then windows sees the drives have a problem and it has to be checked and errors corrected. I saw one reviewer who said he resolved the problem by epoxying the connector connection on the drive. Not sure you should buy a drive you have to epoxy. I can say its a lemon because it seems to be all have the same problem. So their all lemonds. An THEN IT DIED.

The USB connector is ridiculously loose. You can wobble it back and forth without any effort. Just plugging in the cable causes the connector inside the drive to move up and down. WTF... Its obviously well made otherwise but that USB connector is NOT gonna last very long. I was curious about Read/Write Speeds so I benchmarked it. was average. fine i suppose. kinda wanted more for 70$ but meh was ok for mechanical drive. Huge design flaw though... returned it same day.

Just cannot trust these drives. 2 out of the last 3 I purchased have been intermittent. Very disappointing. Wondering if they require more power than a brand new Apple i9 MacBook pro can provide to running 2 at the same time even though they are attached to seperate Apple USB dongles. UPDATE the 2nd one I bought will no longer bootup. DO NOT BUY THESE DRIVES!
