I have had my R3000 for just over 2 years. When it works well, which is about 50% of the time, it produces excellent prints. However it randomly puts lines 2cm from the leading edge and back edge of the paper and deposits blobs of black ink onto prints. The black ink channel has now stopped working altogether and this seems to be a common problem. In line with many other people the customer service from Epsom is abysmal. If these printers require regular maintenance and cleaning of print heads etc it would be helpful if Epsom could provide guidance in respect of this.

Great print quality, but wastes a lot of ink and broke down after only a few years. 1 - Print quality is outstanding, so there's that. 2 - Uses/wastes a lot of ink (and time) switching from photo black to/from matte black. 3 - A few months after warranty expired, does not output any ink from black print head (both photo and matte). Epson customer service said I was on my own. Repair to cost 1/2 the cost of a new printer. I owned Epson Stylus Photo 2200 for over a decade without incident before if finally quit on my. This new/improved R3000 lasted just over 2 years. Very disappointed.

Don't buy this Epson printer before you look up "Epson R3000 black ink blobs." This happened to me after owning this printer just under 2 years--black ink blobs started showing up on all my prints. I wasted nearly $300 in new ink carts and photo paper just to try to get it working properly again before I found out this was useless and that the only solution was to take it to an Epson repair center at cost of more than the printer is worth. You will find lots of people had this ink blobs problems after 1-2 years of owning this printer. Printed very nice pictures though when it was working properly.

I've had about 8 different Epson pro level printers over the years. The R3000 is a Lemon! First one broke in less than a year. Permanently clogged black ink. Second one managed to live past warranty. It has now died with the same issue. It and $200+ worth of ink are headed for the trash. After 20+ years of being a dedicated Epson customer I think I'm throwing in the towel. They just don't make printers that last anymore. $700 is too much to pay for something that only lasts a year.
