De PlayStation Portal biedt een uitstekende manier om PS5-games te streamen met volledige DualSense-functionaliteit en een helder 1080p-scherm. Het apparaat ligt comfortabel in de hand en is ideaal voor wie de tv moet delen. Wel is het volledig afhankelijk van een PS5 en werkt het alleen via hetzelfde netwerk, wat de mobiliteit beperkt. Bluetooth ontbreekt, dus je kunt alleen Pulse-headsets gebruiken. De vibratiemotoren zijn opvallend luid en het wisselen van gebruikers is omslachtig. Voor wie puur remote wil gamen op PS5 is het een sterke keuze, maar alternatieven bieden vaak meer flexibiliteit.

An oddity perhaps, the PlayStation Portal isn't a true handheld console, rather a way to play games streamed from your own PS5. In that respect it excels. The large, 8-inch screen is superb and latency is nigh-on non-existent. Plus, you can use it with a mobile hotspot or external Wi-Fi connection. If it had access to cloud gaming too, it'd be better still, but even as it stands it's great for hardcore PlayStation fans who want to play when the TV is unavailable.

I absolutely love the PS Portal Remote Player especially after the update which basically turned this into an PS5 Handheld console. You will need the PS Plus premium subscription which to me is well worth it. The only problem I have is that if you don't have a proper WIFI connection then you are COOKED!!!! I would pay if SONY finds a way to stream using 5G/Mobile data instead of depending on WIFI connections!!!!
