By all the specs and reviews this looked like it would be a great machine to replace my 12-year-old Fujitsu scanner. Regrettably, after receiving a new machine and trying to get it to work with my computer, and then spending 1.5 hours on the phone with Epson tech support (which was good), we could not get this scanner to communicate or work properly with my newer Dell desktop Windows 10 machine. Seems Epson has some pretty buggy software for this machine. I was also not impressed by the quality of the machine itself, which definitely does not look or feel like it's worth twice as much as a new Fujitsu ix500. Had to return the machine after wasting a lot of time.

For the money the quality of work it puts out is not good. Nor is the speed when you choose better quality pictures. They need to work on the description better.

I had the DS860 but had to give it up when I upgraded my Mac OS to Catalina (64 bit only OS). The 860 wouldn't work with 64 bit. Plugged this one in and haven't looked back. It is super fast and easy to work with. Compact enough for a small office and rips through scans fast.
